The Floppy Cat
The Ragdoll is named for its signature behavior: when you pick one up, it goes completely limp like a ragdoll. It’s a breed bred specifically for docility and gentleness — Ragdolls are among the calmest, most trusting cats in the world.
Appearance
All Ragdolls have stunning blue eyes, a semi-long silky coat, and color-point patterning (darker face, ears, legs, tail on a lighter body). Common patterns: seal point, blue point, chocolate point, lilac point, and the dramatic mitted (white paws) and bicolor (white face blaze).
Temperament
- Follows you room to room
- Greets you at the door
- Does not jump or climb much — they prefer ground level
- Can be walked on a harness
- Ideal for families, apartments, multi-pet households
- Rarely uses claws; gentle mouths
Health
HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) is the primary genetic concern in the breed. We only source from catteries that DNA-test both parents for the Ragdoll-specific HCM mutation (MyBPC3), and we provide those test results with the kitten.
